Aquadome Pool Works Update

DSC04794

TUESDAY 14TH DECEMBER

We are excited to announce the reopening of the 50m pool this Saturday!

The majority of work being undertaken to the aquatic facilities is behind the scenes, including the installation of a state-of-the-art pool pump and filtration system and new heating technology. The upgrade also included rebuilding and retiling of the 50m pool!

No effort has been spared to ensure you have a beautiful, crystal clear pool in tip-top condition to enjoy for the Christmas holidays.

The pool will open as per our usual operating hours at 7am, this Saturday, 18 December.

Thank you so much for your patience, we know you are going to love the results. Please come down and make a splash in this gorgeous facility from Saturday onwards!

WEDNESDAY 10TH NOVEMBER

We are pleased to share that the 50m pool looks set to reopen in December.

The aquatic facilities at the Aquadome are currently undergoing a major upgrade by the City of Playford. While the program pool reopened in September, the 50m pool remains closed, with an expected reopening date in mid-late December.

As can be the case when upgrading facilities, as construction has progressed, additional work has been uncovered. The City of Playford has taken the opportunity to resolve the additional issues, which will ensure the quality and longevity of the upgrade. It has, however, resulted in delays the reopening date which we know has been inconvenient for our users.

What is being done?
The majority of work being undertaken is “behind the scenes”, including the installation of a state-of-the-art pool pump and filtration system and new heating technology. The upgrade also includes rebuilding and retiling of the 50m pool.

This is a significant investment in the pool’s infrastructure which will reduce intermittent pool closures during peak periods, provide increased control over water temperatures and exceed all safety and compliance requirements. Importantly, the work being done now will future-proof the facility for generations to come.

How we will know when the pool reopens?
We want to keep you up to date as the upgrade continues, so stay tuned to our website or Facebook page for regular updates. Aquatic members will be contacted directly when the pool’s exact reopening date is confirmed.

If your membership is currently on hold it will remain on hold until the 50-meter pool is reopened.

For any questions, please contact aquadome@bluefit.com.au

MONDAY 8TH AUGUST

The Aquatic renovations continue!

Due to the COVID lockdown and some unforeseen challenges with the plant room demolition the reopening of our aquatic facilities has been delayed.

We are super excited to see the reopening of our sparkling pools, and most importantly the return of our Learn to Swim program.

At this stage Swimming Lessons in the 25m pool look like being back in action from early September. And saving the best until last, the 50m pool should be ready towards the end of November – just in time for summer!

Further details and confirmed opening dates will be communicated to members and families via email and social media.

Rest assured if you have an aquatic membership or you are a swim school family your payments have been placed on hold while services have been suspended. We appreciate everyone’s patience and look forward to our return.

SATURDAY 31ST JULY

Dear Members and Guests,

We have some good news! The Aquadome gym looks set to reopen at 4pm on Monday afternoon after this morning’s confirmation of the building’s safety.

We closed the gym as a precautionary measure on Friday night after our capital works program uncovered a very small amount of asbestos. Your health and safety remains our number one priority and we wasted no time getting a specialist team in to assess the risk to our members and staff.

We are pleased to report that the testing has been completed, zero particles were found to be airborne, and there is no danger to our community. Remedial works are underway to ensure the area is safe and prevent further disruptions. Works should be completed by Monday morning, and following a thorough clean and risk assessment we should be in a position to safely reopen the gym by 4pm.

Until then we do encourage you to make use of the John McVeity Centre Gym. We have extended the staffed hours to accommodate this until 3pm today and from 7am on Monday morning. All group fitness classes have been moved to JMC and will run as normal. Keep an eye on the BlueFit Health Club app for any changes. Crèche services will also be moved to JMC. If you have a crèche booking you will be contacted separately about this.

The address is:

John McVeity Centre
182 Peachey Rd
Smithfield Plains, SA 5114

If there are any unforeseen changes we will let you know. We will also keep our Facebook page and website updated, so please have a quick look before you pop in on Monday afternoon.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We know this was an inconvenience this weekend, but we will always err on the side of caution when it comes to your health and safety. For any questions at all please email us at aquadome@bluefit.com.au

We can’t wait to see you on Monday!

The team at The Aquadome

Tonight and over the weekend members are encouraged to use the John McVeity Centre Gym. We have extended the staffed hours of operation at JMC to accommodate this. They are:

This means that the leisure pool and swim school is now projected to resume towards the end of August. The 50m pool remains scheduled for a November return. Naturally, we will keep you updated with confirmed reopening dates when they become available. You can check out the progress so far below!

For any questions at all please email us at aquadome@bluefit.com.au.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we upgrade your facility. We apologise for any inconvenience and look forward to you return

The team at The Aquadome

n July 2021, the Aquadome pools will embark on one of the most important upgrades in recent memory. A lot of this won’t be seen by members or guests but the end result will future proof your facility for generations to come.

What?
The Aquadome pools will undergo a behind the scenes rebuild. This will include installing a state of the art pool pump and filtration system, establishing a new heating system while rebuilding and retiling the 50m pool.

When?
Expected to begin early July, the aquatic services at the Aquadome will be disrupted with the closure of both pools; with an aim to reopen the 25m pool on 2 August 2021, followed by the 50m pool on 4 October 2021.

How will this affect my membership?
Access to the pools will not be available during the closure. For those that have an Aquatic only membership, this will be placed on hold for the duration of the 50m pool rebuild. Should you wish to convert your Aquatic membership to a Full Access Health Club membership during this time, the BlueFit team will only be happy to help you discuss our options. Members with a Full Access membership will continue as normal however complementary suspensions will be available to those who wish to put memberships on hold during this time. Upfront Aquatic memberships and 10 Aquatic visit passes will be extended by 3 months. Should you have any queries regarding your membership, please speak to our friendly customer service team.

Health Club memberships will not be affected, with access to our Health Club at both the Aquadome and JMC gym available as well group fitness programs to be maintained as normal. Aqua classes will have a limited offering during the remedial works, returning to the full timetable on 4 October 2021.

How will this affect swim school?
Swim school will be affected for the month of July and will return on August 2 (Week 3 of the school term). All swimming lesson fees will be placed on hold for the month of July with credits applied to your account for any lessons missed during the last week of June. Where possible, we will do our best to hold the current day and time of your swimming lesson. During the months of August and September, if your swimming lesson is normally conducted in the 50m pool; your session will move to the 25m pool with days and times subject to change. Our friendly BlueFit Learn to Swim team will make contact with you to advise. No action will be required by you.

What will I notice when I return?
Water Quality! With the new state of the art filtration system, you will notice clearer, fresher water contributing to better bather comfort.
Change in water temperature. It is likely that the water temperature in the 25m leisure pool will rise. This will make the Learn to Swim experience more enjoyable.
Fresh new tiles in the 50m pool. Lifting tiles and ad-hoc fixes have been something BlueFit have managed over the past 18 months and a clean new look will give the environment a fresh new feel.

Will the Spa and Steam Room be available?
For the safety of our members and guests, the steam room and spa will be closed during the shutdown of the 25m leisure pool. We plan for the spa and steam room services to resume on 2 August 2021. No remedial works have been planned for these areas.

What if I use an external service provider to access the Aquadome pools?
If you use an external provider, including a BlueFit Exercise Physiologist, to access the Aquatic environment, please reach out to these providers to understand how these closures will affect your service.

What if my child uses the Department for Education to access the Aquadome pools?
If your child uses the Department for Education to access aquatic services, please reach out to the department to understand how these closures will affect your service.
