BlueFit is in partnership with the City of Playford, working to make the Aquadome more energy efficient.
Originally built in the early ’80s, the Aquadome is a tremendous community asset and is part of the landscape in Elizabeth but running this facility consumes a lot of energy. In a pursuit to be greener and more energy-efficient, the Aquadome will see a number of upgrades in 2020.
You may not notice theses upgrade from the outside but it’s still good to know what’s going on as this work may impact your experience in the short term. These projects will include an upgrade to our gas supply, the supply and install of new heat pumps, solar panels being added to the roof of our facility and variable speed drives to make our pool operate at its best efficiency. Further to this, an energy management system will also be installed to act as the brains behind everything we do energy-wise.
Some of this work has already begun, the variable speed drives project is well underway and the update to the gas supply will commence in the coming weeks. These projects, in particular, may impact you as work will be carried out on the eastern side of the 50-meter pool.
Please note that part of the pool deck will be closed to ensure your safety and the safety of the tradesmen. This will not affect access to the pool in any way. We ask that you be patient while these works are carried out and we work towards a more sustainable future for generations to come!
